is a Professor for International Relations and Director of the Center for Political Practices and Orders (C2PO) at the University of Erfurt. He holds a PhD from LMU München. He also serves as the current editor of the European Journal of International Relations and convenes the module on Economic Development at the Merian Center ICAS:MP.
His research is located at the intersection of international political economy and global social theory with a particular interest in the promises and limits of interdisciplinary research. It reconstructs the limits and boundaries of these fields by exploring the connectivities to conceptual history and the history of economic and political thought more generally. He uses these fields to explore the dynamics and limits of international authority and legitimacy and thereby touches upon issues of global hierarchies and their colonial origins.
