is a Senior Researcher at the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute (ABI) in Freiburg where she heads the research cluster „Patterns of (Forced) Migration“. Her current research interests focus on political processes surrounding refugee and migration governance with her most recent project looking at refugee protection in South Africa and Uganda.
She has previously worked on legitimacy and civil society inclusion in peacebuilding processes in Liberia and Kenya. Franzisca holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Tübingen and she has published in a variety of journals including Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding, Security Dialogue, African Affairs and Journal of Immigrant & Refugee Studies. She is the co-founder of the AEGIS Collaborative Research Group on ‘African Migration, Mobility and Displacement’(AMMODI).
